Zero

2020

“Actually, this individual-size bottle has no more calories than half a grapefruit. I guess that’s why everyone likes the refreshing new feeling you get, only from not too sweet Coca-Cola. And remember, Coke is low in calories too. Hey now, don’t you get any thinner?”

"Zero" is a dance piece about loneliness, love, and Coca-Cola. This collaborative creation features ten dancers and the musician Ori Alboher. Imagery from fashion, hip hop, and commercial culture are used to explore themes related to digital communication, body image, and self-marketing. Through brand promotion, phone use, commercial dance, and ad consumption, it reflects on the role of pop culture in our lives, blending critical perspective with nostalgic longing for a different era. Created during a residency in Los Angeles and inspired by American culture, the piece includes both existing and original dance segments created by the performers. Additionally, it features a guest segment by renowned commercial choreographer Eden Shabtai.
